Jolie Beauty has been created by a group of makeup artists who have created a variety of different beauty products with no animal testing done to create these products. They also have a whole section on glitter, including Glitter Eyeshadow Palette products on their website which look amazing. Who doesn’t love glitter? Especially this time of year getting all festive and glammed up. Even if that is to spend the time at home. Who says you can’t look good while watching Christmas films and stuffing your face?
This blog post will focus on reviewing the palette called ‘Bomb Dot Com – 24 Shade Glitter Palette‘ which as the title suggests, is full of glittery goodness. Before I was sent this palette to review I had a look on Jolie Beauty’s website to see what it looks like in the images and I was intrigued to see whether it would look as glittery as the pictures made out.
First Impressions
When the product arrived I was impressed by the look of the rose gold palette and this is just the box itself I’m talking about, I hadn’t even looked inside at this point. The only thing I will say is it was a little bit difficult to read the back of the palette unless I was looking at it in a certain light. The back does also state that the palette is vegan and cruelty-free which is brilliant. I would also like to mention the packaging the palette arrived involved very minimal waste of cellophane wrapped around the palette itself and then cardboard for the main packaging which is recyclable.
Upon opening the palette to take a look inside I found myself amazed and mesmerised by how shiny and glittery the palette was. I kid you not, it was better than I had anticipated from the pictures.
I mean, just look. Look at it.
I love that the palette has a mirror which just makes it super easy to take travelling with you, or to festivals, or to a friends house for getting ready for a night out. Even better at this current moment if you’re wanting to get all glammed up for watching those Christmas films and you have a toddler chasing you around trying to steal all the glitter. This way you can walk around (away from the previously mentioned toddler) and apply all the glitter you desire, whilst seeing where it’s going!
Swatches
I thought I’d do a little swatch of all the different colours in the palette to show you all the variety. The names are going left to right.
Row one: Lagoon, Steel, Cocoa, Princess, Ballet, Sugar
Row two: Ignite, Mermaid, Firefly, Infinity, Showgirl, Crowned
Row 3: Swell, Amazon, Regal, Charrybomb, Superstar, Golden Ticket
Row 4: Seabed, Zest, Disco, Rosy, Blossom, Just Jolie
In row 2 and 4 you can definitely see the shine and glitter on the different swatches I did. Also, notice the swatch for sugar and the consistency of this? It actually has the consistency of sugar which I thought was really cool and something a little different.
Testing Time
I wanted to create some looks using this palette to show you how it looks when on the eye. I initially couldn’t choose what colours to go for and spent a good while trying to decide. I ended up going for four different looks in the end which involved a variation of pink and gold colours. I must warn you the next pictures do involve some untamed eyebrows and small eyelashes, so please just focus on the colour of my eyelid! Please note the base I used for the looks were part of a Makeup Revolution palette that I’ve had for a while.
Look 1: For this look, I used the Ballet shade in the corner of my eye for a simple look but with a subtle pop of glitter.
Look 2: For this second look I used Rosy and I wanted to make my eye sparkle and shine. Can you tell I wanted to go full-on glitter?
Look 3 – Again with this first golden look, I wanted to go for something sophisticated (maybe?) but with that pop of glitter again. For this one, I used the crowned shade.
Look 4 – For this look I used cocoa and applied the shade all across my eyelid because why not? I loved the way this one looked, so much glitter! Perfect.
Overall Opinion
The palette is brilliant in my opinion, there is a huge range of glitter shades to choose from to create so many amazing looks with. As with every glitter eyeshadow, it is best done by using a small eyeshadow brush and applying one brush at the time. For looks 1 and 3 I used one application of eyeshadow in the corner of my eye. For looks 2 and 4 I used around 4 applications of eyeshadow to complete the full lid.
I like that the eyeshadow itself isn’t heavy on the eye as that can be offputting with some eyeshadows. The only shade that was slightly heavy is sugar but that is due to the consistency so just make sure to apply little on the eye when using.
It is super easy to clean off, it did feel a little bit rough as I was wiping it off my eye but then again it is glitter so I don’t know what I was expecting. It does also last a long time on the eyes so good to wear for a long time unless you rub your eyes which I did on one of my eyes and spread it across my face without realising.
Overall I would recommend the Bomb Dot Com eyeshadow palette and there is 25% off at the moment so if you were interested in this palette I’d check it out before the offer is over. What is your favourite shade on the Bomb Dot Com palette? I think my favourite one is Infinity because it has a nice iridescent effect to it which I love. However, I am excited to try out all the different shades over the next few days (forever) so I’ll probably end up with a new favourite shade next week.
