In late March/early April 2020 I was on the lookout for a more sustainable/ environmentally friendly sanitary product for my periods. I had been looking around for a while beforehand and kept coming across those moon cup type of things, but every time I thought of them it kind of just made me think they were similar to tampons and the thought of that would just put me off.

I then came across a few Instagram accounts who had said they’d tried Wuka before and advised them as a more sustainable resource for periods. I was getting slightly more convinced by these period pants at this point as I had seen more people talking about them.

Then it came to Earth Day on April 22nd this year and I had seen Wuka were having a half-price sale for Earth Day, so I placed my order and tried to contain some excitement. I had been looking at purchasing reusable period products for a while but I had sort of been put off by the price. Even though I knew at the time it would be financially beneficial and more environmentally friendly, I am not the type of person that likes to go for more expensive things (even with those factors involved). But I anticipated the arrival of my new, environmentally friendly period pants. It was probably the most exciting thing around that time considering nothing else was going on!

It was only a few days after the parcel arrived that I got my period so I was of course annoyed that my period had arrived, but also excited that it meant I could try out my new underwear. My first impression was that they were super comfortable, it felt as though I was just going through any usual day without having a sanitary towel stuck to me or my underwear (you know how it goes). Then a few hours later after going to the toilet, it didn’t feel as comfortable in a cleanliness type of way. So I took them off and washed them and hung them out to dry for the next day. They do advise not to tumble dry on the label so it did take a good while for them to dry after being washed.

Here I am 8 months later and I still use them every time I get my period and I’m hoping to get some more within the next few months so I won’t need to use disposable sanitary products at all. I definitely recommend this brand for a great reusable sanitary product as they are super comfy and easy to use. They also work out more financially beneficial in the long run and greater for the environment!
