Wicked Kitchen is a company that prepare a variety of plant based foods from ready meals to deserts. They have a huge variety of foods on the go, chilled, fresh, frozen and ingredients to cook with. Wicked Kitchen is available in Tesco stores and you can often get these products on Clubcard prices (lower prices than usual if you have a Clubcard).
I’ve only tried a few products from this range to date so these will be the products I review in this post. Enjoy!
Vindaloo Vibe Kit
*Update August 2021* This product sadly no longer exists, which is devastating as you will be able to tell from the below text.
Let’s start off with my absolute favourite food by Wicked Kitchen. I have a love for Vindaloo and found the Vindaloo Vibe Kit in Tesco in December last year and thought why not give it a try?! That was the beginning of the love story for the Vindaloo Vibe Kit, which has grown since.
I find this kit is perfect for a ‘fakeaway’ paired with a glass (or two) of Chenin Blanc or Prosecco! It is a super easy food to make with this kit and you can adjust the amount of spice by choosing how much of the chilis you want to add to the sauce. Then it is a perfect choice for those who love the spice or those who prefer it milder!
You can pair the sauce from the outcome of this kit with a variety of different foods. I either go for rice and veg or make it more like a takeaway and have it with some chunky chips. There is even a recipe suggestion on the back of the packet to give you more of an idea of what to use to make it a meal.
I could go on for ages about the Vindaloo Vibe Kit, however, I will stop now as it is making me slightly hungry (oops).
The Vindaloo Vibe Kit gets a 10/10 for sure.
Jazzy Jam Doughnuts
These Jazzy Jam Doughnuts were delicious. Unfortunately these doughnuts were a part of the bakery section throughout Veganuary and I don’t think they will be back anytime soon! However, if they do come back at any point you should definitely grab your hands on some of these if you are a doughnut lover.
The Jazzy Jam Doughnuts get a 10/10.
Double Trouble Chocolate Cookies
These cookies were lovely, they definitely satisfied a craving for big chunky cravings! The only downside would be they could be a bit sickly and stodgy if consuming over half the cookie. That could just be how my body reacted to them, however, it just meant having the cookies for a longer time with not eating it all at once, bonus! Again sadly with these cookies they were a Veganuary introduction so Tesco no longer have them available.
The Double Trouble Chocolate Cookies get an 8/10.
Spicy Smoky Dreamy Mac
The spicy smoky dreamy mac is a great vegan alternative for things like instant pasta pots! It is ready within 5 minutes, so a super quick and convenient food to have when you’re hungry and don’t have enough time to cook! This can be a bit pricy, but definitely worth giving it a go at least once if you love smoky and spicy flavours!
The Spicy Smoky Dreamy Mac gets a 9/10.
Chocolate Ice Cream
This ice cream was banging! Honestly I couldn’t tell this was vegan, at all! Only £2 for these tubs as well which is a bargain compared to some other brands with tubs this size.
The Chocolate Ice Cream gets a 9/10.
Vanilla Ice Cream
Apologies but I do not have a photo representation for this item as I must have forgotten! Not to worry, the tub was very similar to the Chocolate version photographed above, however, with more white colouring and ‘Vanilla’ in replacement of ‘Chocolate’.
Anyway, while I did like this flavour, I found it a little bit boring and found I preferred the chocolate one. It would have gone really well with cake or other forms of desert.
The Vanilla Ice Cream gets a 5/10.
Thoughts
I really have enjoyed some of the products from the Wicked Kitchen range, I think you can guess which one is my favourite! I think I will be giving a few other products a go in the future, probably the ones on Clubcard prices.
