5 Reasons Why You Should Shop At Depop

Many of you may browse clothing companies such as ASOS, Boohoo, Misguided, Shein and many other brands and end up with a massive order of clothes you may not end up actually needing. Maybe felt like a treat yourself day? Or there was a great offer on? But have you ever considered closing those sites/apps down and having a look on Depop instead? Well, if you haven’t then you need to try it out and here is why.

1) You help someone out

You know how hard the economy is being hit these days and so many people will be struggling with bills and putting food on their table. What better way to know you’re making a difference (no matter how big or small) in someone’s life. Don’t you think it’s better when you purchase from an individual rather than a business?

2) Less chance of exploitation

You know more than likely the clothes from online shops you buy half the time have probably been made by a young or underpaid worker in a sweatshop. Do you remember recently when it came out that BooHoo had a sweatshop here in the UK in Leicester? The workers were paid something ridiculous like £4 per hour and threatened if they told anyone of the low amount. Therefore if you buy clothes second hand from someone on Depop then you will not have funded more sweatshop work through your purchase. If that makes sense?

3) Live the slow fashion life by recycling clothes

Landfills are consistently getting bigger and bigger and it is a terrifying thing that is happening to this planet we call our home. A way to help reduce chucking away so many unwanted clothes is to recycle them by selling them on or buying second hand.  Shopping second hand is a great alternative to buying from bigger brands and contributing to fast fashion.

4) Sell your own unwanted clothes to make room

As well as shopping second hand through Depop, you can also sell your own goods there! If you have unwanted clothes there’s usually someone out there who would buy them from you! It’s not just clothes you can sell on there though, you can also sell accessories, bags, art, books, and more.

5) You can find some great items for great prices

You can usually find what you are looking for on Depop, even if sometimes you may have to look again a few days later. It is full of a vast variety of clothing, jewelry, accessories, and more! I was looking for some wigs the other week and I could only see ones that looked like they’d be awful quality and I generally didn’t like the look of them. I had a look on the app again about a week later and came across a listing for a wig that I thought looked gorgeous and it was only £5! Then I noticed the seller had another wig that I liked the look of and I wasn’t going to go for it, but then I saw that they had free delivery with two specific items. I knew it made more sense to go for both of them at this point, especially considering just one wig would have had £2.99 delivery so an extra £2 would get me an extra wig.

Tell me, have you shopped or sold through Depop before? How was your experience this way compared to buying from bigger brands?

Thank you for taking the time to read!
