Party Food, But Make It Vegan

For my birthday I wanted to celebrate with my family and involve food in the celebrations. I wanted to use vegan food for the day for my non-vegan guests.

Safe to say it was a hit as there was not much food left over at the end!

I ended up getting a variety of foods from different shops including Tesco, Asda, Iceland and Holland & Barrett until I found the perfect mix.

What I used for party food

It’s not the best time of year for vegan party food so it did take looking around some shops to find a variety. I do find the best time of year for vegan party food is December/January as brands prepare for veganuary. Unfortunately the variety in vegan party food dwindles down after these months. However, after searching around several shops I did manage to get a good variety of tasty food.

Here’s what I found and cooked up for the buffet:

  • Fry’s popcorn chicken
  • Fry’s Plant-Based Nuggets
  • Oumph Crispy Buffalo Tenders
  • Vegan mac n no cheese
  • No Meat – Southern Fried No Chick Strips
  • plant chef no prawn tempuras
  • Higgidy -Spinach, Sweet Red Pepper & Basil Mini Muffins
  • Higgidy – Vegetable Samosa Rolls
  • Violife – Cheddarton Extra Mature with Pineapple sticks
  • Curly Fries
  • Hashbrown potato pops
  • Plant Chef Margherita pizza
  • Samosas
  • Onion Bhaji
  • Vegetable spring rolls
  • A variety of crisps including; onion rings, salt and vinegar twirls, bacon flavoured rashers and ready salted sticks

Vegan food has come a long way and finally starting to taste nice which is great! My favourite out of the selection was the vegan Mac n no cheese from Iceland, surprisingly cheesy and delicious.

Onto The Sweetness

Finding vegan sweet treats is a lot more limited compared to the savoury options and unfortunately more expensive. I managed to get the majority from Asda and Tesco, however, I did get the Daisy & Doms and Vego Vegolino treats from Holland & Barrett (thankfully on offer).

Here’s what I got for the selection of sweet treats:

  • OMV! Mini Pink & White Mallows
  • Free From Chocolate buttons
  • Oggs – Mini Chocolate Cupcakes and Mini Vanilla Cupcakes
  • Vego Vegolino – Hazlenut Chocolate Pralines
  • Daisy & Doms – Dark Chocolate Drops
  • Jammie Dodgers
  • Sweet & Salted Popcorn
  • Strawberries
  • Strawberry Jelly Pots
  • Pink wafers

Typically the two sweet treats I purchased from Holland & Barrett were my favourite. The hazelnut pralines were delicious and again with the Daisy & Doms!

I thoroughly enjoyed planning and preparing this vegan buffet. It was nice to see my non-vegan family enjoying the food as well and showing that vegans don’t only eat grass.

What would you bring to a vegan buffet? Any tips for next time?
